The Japan Rail Pass was initially designed as a way to help boost tourism throughout Japan, and it has been extremely successful in doing just that. The JRP provides a sense of convenience to riding the trains throughout the country, and to visitors of Japan, that can make all the difference between having a stressful, overwhelming trip, or having a relaxing and exciting one.
Japan train tickets for tourists can start to add up fairly quickly within the country, depending on where you want to go. For many people, coming to Japan is a trip of a lifetime, so it’s important to see as many sights and cities as possible. The JRP makes that easier than ever, connecting to all of Japan’s major cities, and of course, most famous tourist attractions. The Japan Railway Network has come together to make riding the train system through the country extremely easy for visitors.
You can ride a regular train, or ride one of Japan’s famous ‘bullet trains,’ getting you to your destination at what might feel like ‘lightning speed.’ Check out the bullet train schedule, and where they can take you, for an experience you’ll never forget.
JRPs can only be purchased ahead of time, before you actually arrive in Japan, and only people who are not Japanese citizens, and are staying in the country for no longer than 90 days are eligible to purchase one. Once you do, you’ll receive an exchangeable voucher, so you can pick up your pass right at the airport the moment you land in Japan. From there, the sky’s the limit when it comes to where you’d like to go.
With a Japan Rail Pass, you can jump on a train at any time of day without having to book ahead of time. However, you can also check out a railway planner or railway guide to determine which trains you’ll need for specific locations, etc. The whole idea behind the JRP is to provide an economic and ‘stress free’ way for tourists to travel about the country, so if you miss a train, don’t worry! There will be another one minutes later, and because they go to the major cities and tourist attractions, you’ll never miss something special.
There are different durations when it comes to purchasing a JRP, so it’s important to purchase as many days as you need, since they need to be used consecutively. When you’re making your itinerary, take your JRP into consideration, and you’ll be able to use it every day of your trip.
Whether you’re planning your first trip to Japan, or you just want to see all the major sights and cities, it doesn’t get more economically-friendly, or convenient than the JRP. It can truly make your trip one you’ll never forget, and you can travel on your own time to see as many locations and famous sights as you’d like. It is truly a wonderful way to take a ride through Japan
